New Harvest Ministries International was founded in 1989 in Holland, Michigan by Evangelist Herb Stewart and his wife Jean. They began this journey in 1964, operating as Herb Stewart Ministries. The ministry was restructured in 1989 and the name was changed to reflect the broader scope of the ministry opening before them. Their one simple mission and purpose has always been to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the most remote regions of the world and to fulfill the words of the Great Commission, “’Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20. This has been the foundation and the heart of this ministry!
Many nations have been impacted by this ministry, however most of the focus has been in Russia, Cuba, India, and Tanzania. Since its inception, over 1,000,000 people have given their hearts to Jesus with more reports coming in weekly of people coming to Christ. These news believers are then loved, cared for, and discipled by the faithful pastors who are trained and equipped through the New Harvest Bible Colleges.
After Evangelist Herb’s retirement in January of 2015, Dale Scholten stepped into the role of President, joined by his wife, Jeanne. Dale and Herb had a close relationship as they spent nearly 30 years traveling the world together and sharing the Gospel of Christ. Dale and Jeanne now continue to passionately champion the vision of Brother Herb to reach around the world with the Word and faithfully lead this ministry into the exciting expansion of the Kingdom of God taking place in the nations.
Pastor Laban Ndimubenya, Director of New Harvest Ministries in Tanzania, Africa, shares his heart about the impact Evangelist Herb and President Dale have had on his life:
“I don’t know where my ministry would be without these precious men coming to my country in Africa continent 16 years ago. Doing unforgettable work across the earth.”
